Oink! Oink!!

Well, it appears as if we've been hit!!! According to the (awesome) nurse at my pediatrician's office, the twins more than likely have been infected with the Swine Flu! They have had fevers, a nasty cough, and general yuckiness since last Wednesday. They have missed a week of school, and according to the school nurse, cannot come back until Monday because even if their fevers go away, they are still contagious for two days after that. So, please PRAY that they will get better SOON and will be well enough to go back on Monday. They are BORED OUT OF THE MINDS!! And cannot wait to get back to their normal lives! I think one thing they have learned from this lengthy absence is that SCHOOL IS COOL!

Caitlin the Vet

Today was Career Day at school, and Caitlin's Career of the Week is Veterinarian. So, she wore one of my white shirts as a Doctor's Jacket, she made her own name tag, and she took Hugh's stethoscope to wear around her neck. She looked so adorable. I wonder what her career choice will be next week??

And, do you notice something different about Caitlin? She got contacts!!! She's so happy to not be a slave to her glasses anymore. She looks so cute. I love glasses on her, but it's so nice to see her WHOLE face again. And, her vision is changing faster than she is growing, and these contacts are the right prescription for her....so she can see perfectly! She's a happy girl.

Bye Bye Four Eyes!!!

Red Velvet Success!!

Ooooooooh Delicious! I have to say I was a GENIUS in the kitchen tonight!!! First, for dinner, I made these Basil Pesto Hamburgers that made Hugh fall in love with me all over again. I'm a regular cheeseburger
type of girl, but I really loved these.
Oooh, I'm drooling just looking at them.

And my cake....oh, my cake. I have a certain fondness for Red Velvet Cake. And thanks to Becky Higgins, I have found a scrumptious recipe. This is the first cake I've ever made completely from scratch, and it turned out better than I thought! Perfectly moist. Perfectly sinful. Try it and tell me how you like it. Actually, if you are nearby, come and sample a piece. There is plenty left, and if it's left here too long, I'll eat it all!!
Super yummy! And pretty too!

Mmmmmmm, can you taste it?
If you are looking for something new, try one of these. Your loved ones will thank you for it!!

Red Velvet Cake

I'm attempting to make this. I'll let you know how it goes. If it goes well, I'll post the link to the recipe. If not, I'll post the phone number to California Pizza Kitchen, so you can just order it.

Made My Day

This is one of the cutest things I've seen in a long time. Makes me want to have an orangutan for a pet, and an elephant to take me on morning walks.

Crazy Days!!

It's been an eventful few days around here. First Courtney got sick. Flu sick. She's not oinking, so I'm not thinking it's the Swine Flu. But fever, cough (oh...the coughing!!!), and general yuckiness. Then, she passed it to her brother. That wasn't very nice. He's not oinking either. Well, in the midst of all of this, they were scheduled to have their school pictures done yesterday. I'm not a big fan of the very fashionable and artistic individual portrait, but I didn't want them to NOT be in the class picture. Especially, since this is the first time they have ever been in the same class. So, I kept them home from school, but took them to the school so they could be in the class picture. They did the picture, and as soon as it was over, Courtney came walking towards me and said "I don't feel well." She was pale and clammy, and not looking so hot. We started to leave, but she began wobbling, and then she collapsed into me!! I managed to catch her and drag her to a seat. She was only out for a second. She just kept moaning "I want to go home." Poof! Wish granted. We got her in the car and home to the comfort of her sweats and the couch. Her color came back (as did her appetite!!) and she's been fine since. Still feverish and coughing, but doing much better. Same with Connor. I just need to keep their germy germs off of me because I have a very important DATE in 13 days!!! *Wink*

So, after that excitement, I was rear-ended. Didn't do a lot of damage to my car, but it sure munched up her's! Poor girl. I felt so bad for her. So, my truck is at the Truck Hospital for the next few days and in the meantime, they gave me a sweet ride as a replacement - a PT Cruiser. Oh yea baby! Not really, but my kids think it's pretty cool. And isn't that what it's all about??

A Good Lookin' Pair

Not too shabby.
This was at a CPR event yesterday. A large group of kids were taught CPR, and Kurt joined in with them and learned as well. Of course, Hugh was on hand representing the PFD. I only wish he would have informed me of this event so I could have been there, camera in hand!!!

17 days....

...but who's counting???

I AM!!

That's right folks...17 days until I accomplish an item from my Bucket List. I will meet Andre Agassi on October 8 at 6pm. This is not just my imagination speaking. As a part of the ticket package I bought for the Cancer Treatment of America tournament, a Meet and Greet is included. Meet and greet who, you ask?

Jim Courier.......

and......

ANDRE AGASSI!!

Wendy will be accompanying me on this once in a lifetime experience, and she will be the official photographer. And, as I may be stunned into silence, she may be my mouthpiece as well.

Again, I ask....what do I wear???

Under Construction

As you can see, I'm making some changes. I'm looking for something more simple, and I found it. But, now I'm doing silly things like messing with HTML codes, and such. Whatever. Hopefully soon I'll figure out exactly what I'm doing and this blog will be just SPLENDID to look at!!! Until then, I'll remain UNDER CONSTRUCTION!
